Sport

All the courses are structured around Physical and Sporting Activities which are the focus of scientific and technical studies with a common core (general training) and in different professional streams. The STAPS UFR offers four main educational training sectors.

  • The aim of the Activité Physique Adaptée et Santé (APAS - Adapted Physical Activity and Health) course is to develop skills in adapting physical and sporting activities to the fields of prevention in public health and the integration of people with disabilities. It aims at the design, assessment and running of physical activities in both private and sectors relating to social and medical environments, public and private hospitalisation, health insurance, the homecare services and third age sectors and more generally to personal services.

  • The Éducation et Motricité (EM - Education and Mobility) department aims at pre-professional training and understanding of personal development through physical and sporting activities within an educational structure:  physical education in the generic sense of the term is the central but non-exclusive component. This development involves childhood, youth (and potentially adulthood) in a population with a general educational system.

  • The courses taught by the Entraînement Sportif (ES - Sports Training) department aim at professional training for sports training professions within different sports organisations (clubs, companies involved with sport, federal bodies etc.): physical preparation, technical support, coordination and supervision.

  • The Management du Sport (MS) department has the aim of training sports management professionals and researchers who may develop knowledge relating to the different sectors involved: regional and public political organisations, marketing and production of sports goods and services, sports federations, consultancies, sports event organisers, sports tourism, sports facilities and equipment scheduling etc.
