Medical studies
Medical studies are of variable length depending on the path chosen by the student at the end of the second cycle:
- nine years for general medicine,
- ten to eleven years for specialist medicine.
The normal study course is divided into four parts:
- A preparatory year for the competitive entry examination into medicine
- Two years of bioclinical and semiological teaching
- 2nd year of the first cycle of medical studies PCEM2
- 1st year of the second cycle of medical studies DCEM1
- Three years of clinical teaching
- 2nd year of the second cycle of medical studies DCEM2
- 3rd year of the second cycle of medical studies DCEM3
- 4th year of the second cycle of medical studies DCEM4
- The third cycle:
- Diplômes d'Etat de Docteur en Médecine - Doctor in Medicine State Diploma
- Diplômes d'Etudes Spécialisées (3 ou 5 ans) - Specialist Study Diplomas (3 to 5 years)
- Diplômes d'Etudes Spécialisées Complémentaires (2 ans) - Additional Specialist Study Diplomas (2 years)
Additional teaching
- Qualifications for foreign doctors only
- Les attestations de formation spécialisée (AFS) - Specialist Training Certificates
- Attestation de formation spécialisée approfondie (AFSA) - Advanced Specialist Training Certificate
