Space and the Biosphere Research Centre - CESBIO - Centre d'Etudes Spatiales de la BIOsphère

CESBIO is a UPS-CNRS-CNES-IRD joint research unit. (UMR 5126).
Its role is to expand knowledge of continental Biosphere function and dynamics at various spatial and temporal levels.


The Materials and Construction Durability Laboratory (Laboratoire Matériaux et Durabilité des Constructions - LMDC) is a university research laboratory for materials science in civil engineering.
Aims: understanding, analysing and modelling behaviour and changes in materials and constructions within their environments.


The Inter-university Centre for Materials Research and Engineering - Centre Interuniversitaire de Recherche et d'Ingénierie des Matériaux - CIRIMAT, was created in 1999.
CIRIMAT carries out multi-disciplinary research into all the major families of materials (metals and alloys, ceramics, polymers, composites), from their design to their behaviours when used.

Toulouse Institute of Mathematics

The Toulouse Institute of Mathematics (Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse - IMT) is a joint CNRS research unit (UMR5219), bringing together around 210 permanent teacher-researchers and researchers, divided into 3 teams: Pure Mathematics (Emile Picard), Mathematics for Industry and Physics (MIP), Statistics and Probability (LSP).


LPCNO: Laboratory for the Physics and Chemistry of  Nano-Objects
For about ten years the study of physical properties of nano-objects has been a developing field within solid-state physics, thanks to advances in nano-fabrication techniques.


OMP, the Midi-Pyrénées Observatory, is a component entity of Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse III), bringing together the seven Universe Science laboratories within the university and a Service and research Unit.


IEFG (Institute for the Functional Exploration of Genomes) unites 5 CNRS/Université Toulouse III mixed units to explore the genome. The 5 laboratories have scientific interests that converge in studying the molecular foundations of functional diversity in genomes. Grouping them together facilitates the implementation of multi-disciplinary approaches and enables technical platforms to be maintained that can be used by the whole scientific community and start-ups.

Toulouse Institute of Brain Science

Founded in 2000, the institute carries out research into integrative neuroscience in human beings.
Neuroscience, as IFR96, the Toulouse Centre for Brain Research, hopes to see it develop, is the product of close collaboration between various disciplines.


The Toulouse Centre for Research in Education, Training and Professional Integration (Centre de Recherches en Education, Formation et Insertion de Toulouse - CREFI-T) is recognised as a multi-institutional team (équipe d'accueil). CREFI-T is a Université de Toulouse research laboratory. Forty teacher-researchers are working on two axes of research:

  • Education-Apprenticeship
  • The Professionalisation process


The Toulouse Computer Research Institute (Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse - IRIT), is joint research unit, UMR 5505, common to the National Scientific Research Centre (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - CNRS), the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT), to Université Paul Sabatier (UPS), to the Toulouse University of Social Sciences (Université des Sciences Sociales Toulouse 1 - UT1) and to Université du Mirail (UTM).


LAPLACE was created on 1st January 2007 from the merging of three joint research units (CPAT, LGET and LEEI) and a reception team (LE), and represents the greatest concentration in France of research into electrical energy and plasma.

French Centre for Evidence-Based Dentistry

The French Centre for Evidence-Based Dentistry is a university department situated at the crossing point of research and teaching.
