Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier University labelled HRS4R

O n 30 June 2020, the university received the "HR Excellence in Research" award by the European Commission.
In 2019, the university submitted its application to HRS4R, to increase the attractiveness of research careers in Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier University. Through the work undertaken to gain the award, the university has demonstrated commitment to improving the working conditions and career development for research staff. 

The European Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, also known as HRS4R, aims to support research organisations and institutions improving the working conditions and recruitment of researchers. The European Commission’s ‘HR Excellence in Research’ label  gives recognition to research institutions involved in this process.

This strategy is based on the principles of the European Convention for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers drawn up by the European Commission. The Charter and the Code are intended to guarantee attractive research careers and to improve the recruitment and working conditions of researchers in Europe.

By producing an action plan to align its human resources policies to the 40 principles of the Charter & Code, the university has been able to meet all the requirements of the "HR Excellence in Research" label.
The university is committed to improving its human resources policies for the recruitment of researchers, including the implementation of fair and transparent recruitment and evaluation procedures.

Obtaining this label contributes to develop Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier University's influence on the European and world stages and ensure that it remains attractive to researchers.


HRS4R milestone

  • A Steering Committee was set up to draw up an action plan based on a self-analysis of its internal practices.
  • The application to obtain the "HR Excellence in Research" label with the action plan was sent to the European Commission in July 2019.
  • In its initial assessment of December 2019, the European Commission asked Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier University to make some minor changes in order to obtain the label.
  • Obtaining the label on 30 June 2020.
  • After two years of execution of its action plan, the university carried out a self-assessment in 2022, which has been sent to the European Commission, last July.
  • In 2025, the institution will be evaluated on the implementation of the action plan by experts mandated by the European Commission who will decide whether or not to renew the label.
